*nix is … NOT … More Secure
Hope everyone had a safe holiday and is having a great start to the New Year! This article came across my desk before Christmas and I thought of it last night when I was having a conversation with someone who kept insisting that Unix and Linux is more secure than Windows. They went through the usual rant about how Microsoft can’t get security right etc and that using operating systems like Ubuntu is far more secure, yada yada.
Software (whether it’s written for the Microsoft platform or otherwise) is written by humans, and humans are prone to making mistakes that unfortunately turn into vulnerabilities.
